Old Mill Toronto is a great location for pre prom photos, especially for students and families looking for a more elegant setting before heading to prom. Between the historic architecture, softer interior spaces, and surrounding outdoor areas, the venue offers a lot of variety for portraits without needing to travel far between locations.
For this pre prom session, we started inside Canto Restaurant before taking photos around some of the outdoor areas throughout Old Mill. The combination of indoor and outdoor spaces worked really well for creating a mix of clean formal portraits along with more candid moments throughout the evening.
Prom is an important milestone for both students and parents, which is why I always try to keep sessions relaxed and efficient while still making sure everyone feels comfortable in front of the camera. Most people are not used to being photographed professionally, so simple direction and natural interaction usually lead to the best results.
If you are planning pre prom photos in Toronto, I would also recommend scheduling sessions on a weekday if possible since Old Mill tends to get much busier on weekends during prom and wedding season.
