One thing I always encourage couples to think about when planning engagement photos is choosing a location that actually feels personal to them. Engagement sessions do not always need to happen in parks or formal locations. Sometimes the best photos come from places that already reflect your personalities and interests together.
For Janelle and Jo's engagement session, we photographed inside a local record store which gave the entire shoot a very relaxed and candid atmosphere. Between the music, warm lighting, and natural interaction throughout the space, the session felt playful and personal without needing overly posed moments.
A lot of the strongest photos from this shoot came naturally just by letting them explore the environment together, laugh, talk, and interact normally instead of focusing too much on the camera. Sessions like this are always a reminder that engagement photos do not need to follow a specific formula to feel meaningful.
Below are some highlights from Janelle and Jo's Toronto engagement session at Village Vinyl Music Emporium & Cafe.
